Zimbabwe Nears Launch of Africa’s First Lithium Sulphate Plant, Boosting Clean Energy Ambitions

Zimbabwe is set to commission Africa’s first lithium sulphate processing facility at Huayou’s Bikita Mine, producing 60,000 tonnes annually starting Q1 2026. The USD 500 million project, developed by Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe and Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, marks a shift from raw exports to value-added production.
