A civil penalty of USD 10.75 million, which is less than BP has already paid in the case, was settled with by oil major BP to address claims that corporate traders had manipulated natural gas prices in 2008. The Houston Ship Channel's next-day gas market was allegedly manipulated by BP between mid-September and November 30, 2008, in violation of the Natural Gas Act, according to US Energy.
