A US quantum computing firm, Phasecraft, has secured $4.5 million funding from the US Department of Energy’s ARPA-E programme to develop quantum-designed hydrogen catalysts that significantly reduce reliance on scarce iridium used in electrolyser technology. The project aims to accelerate discovery of more efficient catalyst materials using advanced quantum algorithms, potentially improving hydrogen production economics and scalability.
