Toyota and Sumitomo Metal Mining have advanced cathode materials for all-solid-state batteries, aiming to mass produce them by 2028. These batteries offer better safety, longer life, and faster charging than traditional lithium-ion types. Since 2021, their joint research addressed material degradation, creating a highly durable cathode using Sumitomo’s powder synthesis technology.
