Tata Power plans to explore 20–50 MW small modular reactor (SMR) projects following amendments allowing private sector nuclear participation. CEO Praveer Sinha stated the company is already scouting potential locations for future nuclear plants. The SHANTI Bill, recently moved in Lok Sabha, aims to overhaul India’s civil nuclear laws, introduce a new liability regime, and open the sector to private players.
