Tamil Nadu Targets 13,581 MW Energy Storage Capacity

Tamil Nadu aims for 13,581 MW energy storage by 2034-35 to support expanding solar and wind capacity. Pumped storage projects (PSPs), including off-stream closed-loop systems, are key to balancing the grid and storing surplus renewable energy. While 400 MW is operational and 500 MW under construction, ecological sensitivities in the Western Ghats may delay clearances.
