The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) approved TNGECL’s plan to deploy 1,000 MWh of standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across six sub-stations under the Viability Gap Funding scheme. Designed to manage renewable energy variability, the 500 MW BESS will discharge for four hours daily during peak demand.
