A new report projects global renewable capacity will more than double to 8.4 TW by 2031, with solar PV reaching nearly 6 TW. Solar has become the main driver of renewable expansion, supported by falling costs and strong energy transition policies. In 2025, PV generation reached 2,800 TWh, surpassing wind output, with Asia-Pacific—led by China—dominating global deployment.
