The Ministry of Power has amended the Electricity Rules, 2005 to reduce disputes around group captive power projects, with changes effective from April 1, 2026. The amendment retains the 26% ownership and 51% consumption requirements but introduces flexibility in proportional consumption and weighted-average shareholding.
