SoftBank Group’s telecom arm, SoftBank Corp, will develop next-generation zinc-halogen battery cells and energy storage systems in Japan, targeting 1 GWh annual production. Manufacturing will take place at its Osaka facility, which will also host an AI data center and hardware plant. The company will partner with South Korea’s Cosmos Lab and AI firm DeltaX for battery design and development.
