RWE is building a 400 MW, 800 MWh battery storage facility on a former industrial site in Lingen, Lower Saxony, set to begin operations in 2028. The facility will stabilize the grid, provide balancing energy, and complement gas-fired power plants for short- and long-term demand. Equipped with over 200 lithium-ion batteries and advanced grid technology, it connects via the nearby Hilgenberg substation.
