Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has invited bids for a 500 MW/1000 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Patiala, Punjab. The project will be awarded through tariff-based global competitive bidding to ensure cost efficiency and transparency. Designed to strengthen grid stability and support renewable integration, the system will store surplus power and supply it during peak demand.
