NTPC Green Energy on Thursday said its board approved forming a 50:50 joint venture with GAIL (India) Ltd to develop renewable energy projects. The decision, taken at the January 15, 2026 board meeting, is subject to approvals from the Ministry of Power, DIPAM and other authorities. NGEL, a subsidiary of NTPC, leads the group’s green initiatives and aims to help achieve NTPC’s 60 GW renewable capacity target by FY32 through organic and inorganic routes.
