The Power Ministry is considering ₹18,700 crore of low-interest subordinated debt for NHPC’s 1,856 MW Sawalkote hydro project in Jammu and Kashmir. The proposed financing would support the project, estimated to cost ₹31,380 crore, and remains subject to approvals from the Expenditure Finance Committee and other authorities.
