Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) plans a ₹20,000 crore project to install battery-based storage units for 16,000MW of Solar Power by 2026. These Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will store surplus Solar Energy for night-time peak demand. MSEDCL has sought viability gap funding from the Central government and received regulatory approval.
