India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has warned that non-compliant wind turbines may face shutdown after the Indian Air Force flagged security risks at airbases. Turbines lacking SCADA systems can interfere with air defence radars and must be remotely switchable during emergencies. MNRE said Defence Ministry NOCs mandate SCADA installation and urged immediate compliance on top priority, warning that continued negligence could lead to revocation of NOCs, especially affecting projects in sensitive border regions.
