India’s Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) granted a nine-month extension to SECI and IREDA for solar projects under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, now due by December 2025. The delay is attributed to limited local solar module availability, transmission issues, and tender delays. Aimed at adding 12 GW of state-run solar capacity, the scheme highlights ongoing challenges in India’s renewable energy sector, which is striving to reach 500 GW non-fossil power by 2030 from the current 172 GW.
