The Maharashtra government launched the SMART solar scheme, offering 90%-95% subsidies on rooftop solar panels for BPL, SC, ST, and low-consumption consumers. Installation of a 1KW solar panel costing ₹50,000 will largely be subsidized by the Centre and state, reducing consumer costs to as low as ₹2,500.
