As the Indian steelmaker hunts for fuel for its blast furnaces, JSW Group has entered the contest to buy two coking coal mines from Australia's BHP Group in a potential $1.5-2 billion transaction. BHP is selling the 20 MTPA Daunia and Faunus mines in Queensland after experiencing a 32 percent decline in half-year profit, displeasure with the state's increased coal royalty, and ESG Concerns.
