India is investing ₹11.2 lakh crore in power distribution capex through 2035 to drive digital transformation and, according to the Central Electricity Authority, the focus is shifting to smart metering outcomes. The roadmap targets 35 crore smart meter installations by 2035, with a goal of over 10 crore by FY27 to enhance billing efficiency and reduce losses.
