India aims to build a complete EV battery ecosystem within the next 2–3 years, said Mines Secretary Piyush Goyal. The strategy focuses on securing lithium and other critical minerals through global sourcing, overseas acquisitions, and strengthening domestic processing capacity. India is also working on incentives for lithium and nickel refining, recycling minerals from industrial waste, and reducing import dependence.
