India Tightens Cybersecurity Rules for Bluetooth-Enabled EV Battery Systems

India has introduced cybersecurity norms under amended AIS-156 for EV battery management systems with Bluetooth Classic, BLE or other wireless interfaces. The rules target hacking risks in electric two-wheelers and L-category EVs. Test agencies will use generic scanning tools, not manufacturer apps, to attempt discovery, connection, accessing live telemetry like voltage, temperature, SoC, and issuing commands like contactor opening, charge-discharge disable, or BMS reset.
