India is developing three types of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), including a 5 MWth High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor specifically for hydrogen production. This reactor will support thermochemical processes like Copper-Chloride and Iodine-Sulphur cycles, developed by BARC. These SMRs aim to decarbonize industries by serving as captive plants or replacing fossil fuel units.
