India needs to double share of clean power to meet climate goals

For India to meet its climate goal, the share of clean sources in its power generation capacity should increase to 90% by 2047 — more than doubling from now. To meet its international commitment, the country will need to reduce its reliance on coal, which currently accounts for roughly half of installed capacity and nearly 70% of electricity output, and accelerate the deployment of clean energy.
