G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant announced that India will maintain large duty differentials between Electric Vehicles (5%) and Hybrids (48%) to promote zero-emission technologies and green mobility. Despite lobbying from Japanese firms for lower GST on hybrids, Kant emphasized a focus on clean technologies and battery manufacturing.
