India expects 400-500 hydrogen buses on roads by 2030 to decarbonise heavy mobility, said Abhay Bakre, Mission Director, National Green Hydrogen Mission (MNRE), at the S&P Global Horizons Clean Energy Expansion India 2026 summit in New Delhi. He said 45-50 commercial heavy vehicles will begin trials by year-end, with 70 buses and trucks (20-55 tonne payload) sanctioned for two-year trials.
