India has approved 6,562 public EV charging points under the PM E-DRIVE scheme, but none had been deployed by July 2026. Despite infrastructure delays, the scheme has supported over 2.65 million electric vehicle sales, mainly electric two-wheelers. Maharashtra leads in supported EV adoption, followed by Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
