India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced the SHANTI Bill, 2025, aiming to modernize the nuclear energy sector. The Bill replaces the Atomic Energy Act, 1962, and the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act, 2010, enabling private participation in India’s nuclear industry. Small modular reactors will provide reliable, round-the-clock power, complementing solar and wind energy for data centres and industrial growth.
