Researchers at IIT Bombay have developed a 4T tandem Solar Cell using semi-transparent perovskite technology, achieving around 30% power conversion efficiency—significantly higher than the current average of 20%. This breakthrough may lower solar electricity costs to Rs 1 per kWh. The project, backed by ART-PV India Pvt Ltd and Maharashtra’s government, aims for commercial rollout by 2027.
