Japan’s second-largest oil refiner, Idemitsu Kosan, will build a large-scale lithium Sulphide plant at its Chiba Refinery to support solid-state battery production. Partnering with Toyota, Idemitsu aims to help launch EVs with solid-state batteries by 2027-2028. The plant, costing 21.3 billion yen, will produce 1,000 metric tons annually, enough for 50,000-60,000 EVs.
