The HyGrid Hydrogen HydroSHUNTER Project has entered its testing phase. This project aims to retrofit a Class 08 diesel locomotive with a hydrogen fuel cell and battery system, creating the UK's first hydrogen-powered freight locomotive. The testing includes static systems checks and low voltage tests, with plans to have the locomotive move under battery power by August 2024.
