Hindustan Zinc and JNCASR have developed stable zinc-ion battery prototypes for large-scale renewable energy storage. Leveraging abundant, low-cost zinc, the collaboration focuses on improving electrolytes and electrodes for longer cycle life and higher stability. Tested under realistic solar conditions, these batteries offer safe, scalable alternatives to lithium-ion systems with non-flammable aqueous electrolytes.
