Google Invests €13 Billion in Data Centers with Nuclear, Wind, BESS in Finland

Google will invest at least €13 billion in Finland during 2027-2028, its largest European investment, building data centers and infrastructure in Hamina, Kajaani, Muhos and Vaala to expand AI capacity. Building on its Hamina site since 2009, Google signed onshore wind PPAs with Valorem and Suomen Hyötytuuli totaling 629 MW, a 22-year life-extension PPA with Fortum for Loviisa nuclear plant providing 10% of Finland's power, and a 94 MW battery near Kajaani.
