General Motors and LG Energy Solution will begin commercial production of lower-cost lithium manganese-rich (LMR) battery cells in the U.S. by 2028. These prismatic cells, to be made at Ultium Cells plants in Ohio and Tennessee, will reduce battery parts by over 50% and lower costs while offering over 400 miles of range.
