Germany has provided a €200 million concessional loan to South Africa to strengthen its electricity grid and expand renewable energy capacity. Additional €270 million has been committed for green hydrogen and battery value chains. The support reinforces South Africa’s energy transition, improves energy security, and deepens bilateral ties, with both nations elevating relations to a Strategic Partnership amid shifting global geopolitical dynamics.
