Germany led Europe in wind turbine installations in 2024, adding over 4 GW of capacity, ahead of the UK (1.9 GW) and France (1.7 GW), according to WindEurope. Despite 16.4 GW installed across Europe, this fell short of the 30 GW annual target needed to meet 2030 climate goals. WindEurope praised Germany’s record permitting of 14 GW and urged other nations to streamline approval processes.
