GARC Chennai began installing EV and crash safety gear after Rs 221.13 crore PM E-DRIVE allocation, ministry said Sept 28. Under National Automotive Board as Rule 126 agency, it ordered nearly all equipment. Upgrades include high-speed cameras at 4K 750 fps and Full HD 3,000 fps for crash tests, EV battery testing per AIS-156, EMI/EMC per AIS-004, heavy commercial vehicle facility, powertrain lab, crash dummies and ADAS testing.
