France’s CRE Proposes New Rules to Boost Solar Plus Storage and Cut Subsidy Costs

France’s energy regulator CRE has proposed new rules to support large-scale solar projects paired with battery storage. The reforms aim to address rising negative electricity prices and declining solar revenues by shifting more market risk to producers. A pilot scheme for “PV + storage” projects will incentivize flexibility, optimize output, and reduce public subsidy burdens.
