German utility EnBW has started construction of a 400 MW/800 MWh battery energy storage system at its Philippsburg Energy Park, one of Germany’s largest battery projects. Built without government subsidies, the facility will store surplus wind and solar power, enhance grid flexibility, and provide electricity for about 100,000 homes.
