A month after launching the “Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electric Passenger Cars in India” (SPMEPCI), no applications have been received. The government’s portal remains open until October 21, 2025. While several global OEMs like Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, and Toyota have shown interest and are evaluating proposals, big investment decisions and multiple approvals are delaying applications.
