CHARGE Urges South Africa to Slash EV Duties and Fund Renewable Charging Infrastructure In 2026 Budget

Ahead of South Africa’s 2026 Budget announcement, Zero Carbon Charge (CHARGE) has formally called on Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana to adjust electric vehicle (EV) import tariffs to align with internal combustion engine vehicle duties and eliminate ad valorem taxes. The organisation is also urging dedicated budgetary support for nationwide deployment of solar-powered and off-grid EV charging infrastructure.
