The Union Cabinet learned on Wednesday that the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act of 1957 had been amended, allowing the private sector to submit bids for the mining of vital minerals like lithium. Several of the important minerals on the list have been included in the proposed amendment, allowing for their extraction by private companies.
