Facing power crisis, Bihar eyes Rs 1.38 lakh crore solar investment to meet soaring demand. State demand averages 7,300-7,400 MW, peaking at 9,500 MW in summer, against own generation of just 550 MW, projected to cross 11,747 MW by 2030. It collected Rs 19,000 crore revenue in 2025-26 but spent Rs 25,000-35,000 crore buying power, plus Rs 3,800 crore burden for 125 free units to 1.
