Berlin and Brussels Approve Hydrogen-Capable Power Plant Strategy

Germany and the European Commission have agreed to tender 12 GW of new gas-fired power plants, designed to be hydrogen-capable and fully decarbonised by 2045. The first plants are expected by 2031, with additional tenders through 2030. Early incentives aim for 2 GW running on hydrogen by 2040 and 20 GW by 2043.
