Bahrain has launched its first large-scale 150MW Solar Power Project in South Bahrain, marking a key step toward its Renewable Energy goals. Spanning 1.2 km² near Bilaj Al Jazayer, the plant will support targets of 5% renewables by 2025, 20% by 2035, and net-zero by 2060. Led by the Electricity and Water Authority, with advisors KPMG, WSP, and Trowers & Hamlins, the project will invite global bids in August 2025, aiming for operations by Q3 2027.
