IEA Forecasts Strong Electricity Demand Boosting Coal Power in 2024

The International Energy Agency (IEA) reports that rising global electricity demand, driven by increased air conditioning and severe heatwaves, will keep coal plants in operation through 2024. The IEA forecasts that power consumption will grow by around 4% this year, with coal maintaining its presence as renewables gradually take a larger share of the energy mix.
