COP29 Targets 1,500 GW Energy Storage by 2030
At COP29 in November, a draft proposal called the Global Green Energy Storage Pledge aims to boost Global Energy Storage Capacity to 1,500 GW by 2030, up from 230 GW. Supported by the G7, it calls for annual increases of 158 GW and promotes new Battery Technologies and recycling standards. Battery costs have dropped significantly, but concerns about supply and further price reductions remain.
