Carbonate facility for EV batteries by Sailboat Chemicals

Sailboat Petrochemical has opened a new carbonates facility in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China. The growing adoption of EVs is increasing LIB demand which employ both ethylene carbonate (EC) and dimethyl carbonate (DMC). The facility will synthesize EC and DMC using Asahi Kasei tech, employing CO2 as the basic input feed. The agreement is to produce 70K ton of DMC and 38K ton of EC annually.
