Big G Project: 800 MW Pumped Hydro in Queensland
BE Power plans to construct the 800 MW Big G pumped hydro energy storage project in central Queensland, costing AUD 2.3 billion ($1.5 billion). Located at Mount Alma, it offers 12-hour storage duration at full output. Construction starts late 2027, commercial operations in early 2033. Queensland aims for 70% renewable energy by 2032, with various pumped hydro projects in development.
