Afreximbank signed a $4.4 million agreement with Green Hybrid Power to fund feasibility studies for a 1 GW floating solar PV plant on Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe. The project, costing $350 million, will be built in two phases, starting with a 500 MW pilot for industrial customers. Power will be sold to the Intensive Energy Users Group under a 20-year contract, providing affordable, reliable electricity to boost Zimbabwe’s mineral beneficiation and export revenues.
